Traverse City police Capt. Kevin Dunklow said the Talon Air co-pilot’s breath test showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.30, almost four times the legal threshold for drunken driving.

While the accused pilot was at the Grand Traverse County jail awaiting arraignment, Talon Air has already fired him – and praised Capt. Manny Ramirez for sounding the alarm.

Traverse City police Captain Kevin Dunklow said the Talon Air co-pilot was spotted by Captain Manny Ramirez who believed the suspect to be drunk.

A co-pilot suspected of being drunk was arrested at Traverse City airport.

The flight was expected to go out with 12 people shortly after 8 a.m. from Cherry Capital airport.

The co-pilot flies for Talon Air, which said in a statement to WWTV that the co-pilot was “immediately terminated”. “It also means that others aren’t caught, since it is not a mandatory test for all pilots on every flight”. He was taken to Munson Medical Center. His name hasn’t been released.
