Coach Gary Patterson says TCU defense has to be better
“I think we know a lot more than people probably know that were in blowouts or one-sided losses”. As we get a lot of times, we got a different game plan than what we worked on.

“I absolutely love these games against our old SWC rivals”, said Jay Bequette, a Little Rock attorney who was Arkansas’ starting center in 1981-1982. He said he didn’t do a very good job getting his players lined up against the Jackrabbits.
That’s not an exaggeration by Patterson.
The Horned Frogs gave up 461 yards and 41 points against South Dakota State last week. To that end, Patterson acknowledged the firepower of Arkansas on offense when speaking to his defense’s misalignment against South Dakota State.
TCU defensive ends vs. Arkansas offensive line.
Prior to his benching, Harris was 1-4 for eight yards. Just needing a lot more bodies, more people who could run and go downfield. Jeremy Sprinkle admitted this week that he didn’t have the proper spacing on his route on Allen’s second-quarter interception against Louisiana Tech, resulting in an extra defender being in the area of Allen’s intended target Drew Morgan. Patterson, though, didn’t see it that way. But now, in Gary’s system and offensively what they do, I think it fits him very, very well.
“I told him it wasn’t that amusing”, Patterson said. There wasn’t any pro football in Texas and teams like SMU, Rice TCU were the powerhouses. TCU comes out with a win that bumps them up in the polls near the top 10.
Has the move toward a more up-tempo, spread offense had an adverse effect on the TCU defense the last few years? If TCU is unable to keep the Razorbacks’ physical runners at bay on Saturday, it could turn out to be a long day. If the Razorbacks can prevail, they’ll likely head into conference play in great shape two weeks from now. “We didn’t tackle very well, and schematically we didn’t do a very good job of lining up”.
Iconic Arkansas coaches that Broyles, Holtz and Hatfield were, they didn’t have to contend with what Arkansas coach Bret Bielema contends with for this SEC vs. They gave up several big plays that took the momentum away from their team.
Running back Rawleigh Williams III led the Razorbacks’ rushing attack with 96 yards on 24 carries.
“They don’t let you basketball”.
On this episode, we talk about the things the Hogs MUST do if they want to beat the Frogs.
TCU quarterback Kenny Hill was named the Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week, while Horned Frogs wide receiver KaVontae Turpin is the conference’s Special Teams Player of the Week.
86 Years since Arkansas played in the first football game at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
However, no team should expect to start a new season as explosive as its last two after needing to replace a brilliant, Heisman-hopeful starter in Trevone Boykin at quarterback. Increasing size up front can be a big help and adding a playmaker like Summers to the front seven will lead to more splash plays that can change the momentum in the Frog’s favor. Arkansas lost a fumble at its 15, and Stamp had another touchdown pass to Washington.
“I thought for a first ballgame, he managed it”, Patterson said.

Junior receiver Taj Williams looks poised to take over for Josh Doctson as the top receiver, catching 11 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown in his first game with the Horned Frogs.
