Coach Pep Guardiola still undecided about Bayern future

The Spaniard has been widely linked with a move to Manchester City next season, but Guardiola insists that he is happy in Germany.

But former Bayern Munich midfielder Stefan Effenberg says that he believes Guardiola will leave the squad at the end of his deal.

Effenberg says his departure is inevitable and has called on the Bayern hierarchy to appoint Jurgen Klopp when the Spaniard leaves.

“It’s a big title for me and Wolfsburg is a big rival”, said Guardiola, whose team lost 4-1 at Wolfsburg at the start of the second half of the Bundesliga last season.

“I am grateful to be here”. But if I will extend my contract, I must be absolutely sure that it is the best for the club.

“I have not decided yet”.

Saying that he has not received any offer from any club in the world, Guardiola added that there is still time to discuss his future with Bayern officials, who are eager to keep him.

Despite winning the Bundesliga in each of his two years in charge of Bayern, Guardiola is still striving for the Champions League trophy, which would be his third and Bayern’s sixth.

“I’ve read lots of things lately, but all I care about is the good of this club”.

“I am pretty certain that Guardiola will no longer be in charge of Bayern after 2016”, he told Sky.

“When the moment comes that I do make up my mind, then I will inform [chairman] Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, [former president] Uli Hoeness and [director of sport] Matthias Sammer”.

Bayern will face Wolfsburg in the German Supercup on Saturday.

While they may have ended the season 10 points adrift of top spot, Dieter Hecking’s men provided the champions with their closest title challenge last season.
