The Coast Guard received a distress call at 8:51 AM on Sunday morning, August 21, from the 32-foot pleasure craft Fast Line, which was off the south coast of Martha’s Vineyard.

Authorities sent an “urgent marine broadcast” to boats in the vicinity, asking anyone nearby to help. Alantic Prince and the Coast Guard crews all arrived on scene at approximately 9:50 a.m.to assist Fast Line.

A crack in the hull caused the flooding, the Coast Guard said.

“It appeared that the fire was put out by the fire suppression system onboard the vessel and we immediately transferred the four passengers to the 47-foot life boat”.

All six people were taken brought back to shore, and the Fast Line was towed back to its homeport in the Bass River in South Yarmouth.
