Kaylyn Rose Sommer, 24, from Charleston was on the deck of the Norwegian Pearl around 7 p.m on Thursday when she was seen going overboard.
A search is underway in the waters off Cuba after a woman went overboard during a cruise ship dance party.
Officials say a Coast Guard cutter and a C-130 plane were responding to assist in the search.
Seas are two feet, he said.
Hundreds of electronic music fans had packed the ship for the “Mad Decent Boat Party”, which is hosted on the cruise line.
Performers and passengers said on social media that the ship was reversing course to the last location where the woman was known to have been aboard. “Both the ship and charter company teams are providing support to the family and all impacted guests during this hard time”, the release states.
On its website, the Mad Decent Party is advertised as a “crazy boat adventure…for four days of friends, fun, sun and non-stop music”. The ship has three boats that are being used for search and rescue and the Coast Guard is coordinating with the Cuban government its best course of action.
The ship deployed multiple rescue boats and notified the Coast Guard and other relevant authorities.

Norwegian Cruise Lines confirmed late Thursday that the woman had “intentionally” gone overboard in a statement sent to pressplay.
