Colbert announces Clooney as first ‘Late Show’ guest

Colbert tweeted this morning that Clooney will be his first guest when the new Late Show premieres September 8.

Whether or not Colbert will bring any political commentary to The Late Show is one of many burning questions we have about his future, and Clooney’s presence may give us our answer. What issue? Oh nothing much, other than Stephen’s frustration at not being invited to George’s private Italian villa to go skinny dipping with newsmen Charlie Rose and David Gergen.

The former Colbert Report host is taking over the CBS late-night show from David Letterman, who retired earlier this year. Jee says the sandwich is his best-seller by far, so “it’s very appropriate that I pass it on to Stephen Colbert because I want people screaming out his name all day long”.
