Colbert Rips Anti-Refugee Trump

“It’s all anybody in Washington, on the campaign trail, or on the TV box is talking about”, Colbert said on Thursday night’s show. At stake right now is a new bill passed by congress, H.R. 4030, that would require top intelligence officials to personally certify incoming refugees-thankfully a religion litmus test remains in the realm of (almost certainly unconstitutional) fiction.

Stephen Colbert took the GOP to task on Thursday for calling on the U.S.to refuse Syrian refugees. “Because under the law, no one with a name like that will be allowed in the country”, he said.

He mocked Donald Trump, the presidential frontrunner, for suggesting that Syrians accustomed to “130-degree” temperatures would become angry if they were forced to live in colder climates, such as Minnesota.

With his latest commentary on Republicans who are hiding behind their faith to defend their anti-refugee rhetoric, Stephen Colbert let us know how he really feels. Do I want to stay in a war zone where my family faces nearly certain death?

He then referred to President Barack Obama’s statements in Manila in which he said that the Republicans who oppose the refugees seem afraid of widows and young kids.

Then, Colbert joked, “Why shouldn’t we be afraid of three-year-olds?” You think you can’t negotiate with terrorists?

He also took issue with comments made by Cruz and Bush about how the USA could accept Syrian refugees who are Christian, but not those who are Muslims.

“I’m sure these guys right here are just campers roasting marshmallows”, Colbert said with a photo of the KKK with flaming crosses.

“If you want to know if somebody is Christian, just ask them to complete this sentence”, Colbert offered, quoting from the Bible. “‘Jesus said I was hungry and you gave me something to eat”. “I think you can prove it”, he said without further explanation. “And if they don’t say ‘welcomed me in, ‘ they are either a terrorist, or they are running for president”.
