Cold, snow forecast for Thanksgiving
A cold polar plunge will bring sub-freezing air into the Rockies and northern plains.

The road to grandmother’s house for Thanksgiving dinner could be covered with black ice, forecasters warn.
Most of the lower Columbia Basin is experiencing winter weather warnings from the National Weather Service this morning.
At least 8 inches of snow were likely in much of the Upper Midwest during Saturday, the Weather Channel said.
While the potential icy conditions will be a change, the sudden drop in temperature will probably be the hardest thing to deal with, Bledsoe said.
People traveling either route should consider leaving early to beat the storm or waiting for the weather to clear, Wyoming Department of Transportation spokesman Dave Kingham said.
Perhaps more potent will be the bitter cold. Temperatures took a nose-dive…dropping through the 20s…then through the teens…finally settling in the single digits.
Highs will only be in the low to mid-20s. Between 1 and 2 inches of snow could accumulate by Thanksgiving morning in Denver and up to 3 inches in the foothills.
Wednesday snow levels will drop from 5,000 feet to 4,000 feet, and a mix will move through all of the valley locations.

“This is going to be tough because we have a lot of folks hitting the roads for Thanksgiving, so the timing of this storm is not good”, says Rawlins. Highs will be 10 to 30 degrees colder than what is normally expected for the end of November over parts of the West Wednesday through Friday.
