As winds die, temperatures will plunge Saturday night, resulting in a freeze for many areas by Sunday morning.
IRON BOWL: The chance for rain increases during the day as our next cold front arrives.
“We won’t be almost as cold on Monday”, said meteorologist Ted Ryan at the NWS office in Fort Worth on Sunday. High pressure over us this morning moves to the east later today allowing for a modest south wind. Wind gusts could reach 45 miles per hour, putting the wind chill in the upper 30s Saturday afternoon.
For once, the main story line isn’t rain.
Remember the “3 P’s”: Protect pipes, plants, and pets.
IRON BOWL: Model data continues to fluctuate on the timing our of next cold front and this morning the data shows an earlier arrival time which may mean a wet football game.
With this being the first freeze of the fall, this will mark the end of growing season for many locations. The high on Saturday and Sunday will likely stay in the 40’s as well. Lows Monday morning will range from the low to mid 20s in the mountain to around 30 closer to Atlanta.
This weekend’s cold snap isn’t unusual at all!
