Colder temperatures in store for the midstate this weekend

We close the work week with jacket weather.

A few rain is expected Saturday with a high of 54, but temperatures will drop as low as 26 degrees Saturday night.

The big story will be the cold air that will follow the front. It will really be felt starting Sunday morning, when low temperatures are forecast to fall into the 30s across much of the state.

That’s not surprising. Earlier in the month temperature records were set or tied for five days, including two records set in 1986 when the previous monthly high was set.

The National Weather Service on Friday said the storm is likely to bring light to moderate accumulations of snow through Tuesday.

For Friday, expect sunny skies and a high near 51, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday will be even colder, though rain is not expected, the service said. Early forecasts call for dry, chilly weather.

Temperatures will be a little cooler, mostly around the mid 50s.

Forecasters say there is a chance snow will fall in Loveland on Friday, but if it does, they are predicting no more than an inch.

That should also be the case for Wednesday, widely considered the biggest travel day of the year.
