Coldest night of season in Srinagar
The sky remained clear in the morning with moderate to shallow fog in many areas, officials said. The mercury in Qazigund, the gateway town to Kashmir Valley, increased by a degree from the previous nights low of minus 3.8 degrees Celsius to settle at a low of minus 2.8 degrees Celsius, the official said.

Yesterday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 5 degrees Celsius while the maximum had settled at 20 degrees Celsius.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded the minimum temperature of minus 0.3 degree Celsius, an increase of four degrees from the previous nights low of minus 4.4 degrees Celsius, an official of the MET Department here said.
It was minus 2.1 in Pahalgam and minus 7.8 in Gulmarg, while Kargil town in the Ladakh region recorded the minimum temperature of minus 9.0 degrees Celsius, the official said.
Weather office said that cold wave conditions had intensified in the state following snowfall in the hilly regions in the neighbouring state of Uttarakhand. Hisar also reeled under biting cold at a low of 4 degrees Celsius.
“It was the coldest night of the season in Srinagar city today (Saturday) as the minimum temperature dropped to minus 4.4”. Cold conditions also swept Karna and Ambala with 5 and 6.7 degrees Celsius respectively.
While the minimum temperature this week is expected to be five to six degree Celsius, the maximum temperature is expected to plummet.
In Punjab, Amritsar reeled under severe chill at a low of 2.7º, down two notches, while Ludhiana experienced a cold night at 3.4º.

According to the weatherman, the maximum temperature is expected to dip to 20 degree Celsius on Tuesday and 19 degree Celsius on Thursday.
