National Football League sources say Coldplay will perform at halftime of Super Bowl 50. It’s meant to liven things up and give the production that pop culture element that makes it relate to the folks who wouldn’t classify themselves as sports fans.
The Super Bowl 50 performance will take place on February 7 and will definitely benefit the band and their album sales. As reported the Wall Street Journal reported yesterday afternoon that British band Coldplay will perform during Hafltime of the Big Game. Coldplay ostensibly falls under the “present” banner, having sold more that 80 million copies of their six No. 1 albums since emerging with their hit single “Yellow” in 2000. “It’s going to be wonderful and hope we see you there”.
The attention given to Thursday’s announcement underscores how much the Halftime Show has transformed since the first Super Bowl was held in 1967 in Los Angeles. The band’s new record, released Friday, features Avicii, Tove Lo, Noel Gallagher and even Martin’s ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow. Other special artists will also be involved.
Recent half-time headliners have also included Beyonce, Bruno Mars and Madonna, with Bruce Springsteen and The Who also playing in past years.
A Head Full of Dreams arrives in stores tomorrow. Sure, but they are going to have a really hard time topping the amount of attention Katy Perry and her dancing Left Shark got for their performance at the Halftime Show earlier this year.
