Beyonce appears on the band’s new album and, according to the Wall Street Journal, is also in talks to make an appearance during Coldplay’s performance. The Black Eyed Peas included Slash and Usher in 2011; Madonna brought LMFAO and Nicki Minaj in 2012; and Katy Perry welcomed Missy Elliott and Lenny Kravitz past year.
In the most questionable football decision since the the Seattle Seahawks chose to throw on 2nd and Goal from the 1 yard line with 20 seconds left against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX, the NFL has chose to tap Coldplay as the halftime act for Super Bowl 50.
Martin said the group, whose drummer Will Champion is from Southampton, were “excited and honoured” to be taking part in what he called the “Super Bowl of music”. Coldplay should be able to top that as Super Bowl 50 will be bigger event just because of the 50th anniversary.
This decision comes after Adele recently made the choice to not release her album “25” on streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music.
Super Bowl 50 will take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on February 7. The 27-year-old Grammy Award-winning performer has seven records to her name, with an upcoming record that will most likely match the success of her previous releases.
In the video, the band’s artistic director, Phil Harvey, also revealed that there would be a “special guest”, but did not specify who would be joining the show.
A Head Full Of Dreams has been produced by Norwegian duo Stargate, consisting Of Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel Storleer Eriksen, alongside the band’s long-time collaborator Rik Simpson.
