Long before the participating teams are set, one act appears to be booked for the Super Bowl.

“We can expect multiple performers – and I doubt they mean it in a Katy-Perry-with-cameos-from-Lenny-Kravitz-and-Missy-Elliott kind of way”, he wrote, referring to last year’s halftime show. Among the suggested artists: Bruno Mars, who performed in 2014; Beyonce, who performed in 2013; and pop band Maroon 5.

Just last week, Coldplay released “Hymn for the Weekend” featuring Beyoncé, on which 3-year-old Blue Ivy Carter is also featured. The band has been selling more than 80 million copies of their six No. 1 albums and received eight BRIT awards.

Sources close to the band say that they will perform in Santa Clara, CA at Levi’s Stadium for Super bowl 50 on February 7.

A statement given to NME from Spotify reads: “Coldplay’s “A Head Full Of Dreams” is not yet on Spotify, but we look forward to making it available very soon”. Now the National Football League apparently came to an agreement with Coldplay for Super Bowl 50.

The attention given to Thursday’s announcement underscores how the Halftime Show has transformed since the first Super Bowl was held in 1967 in Los Angeles. You can’t please everybody with an event of this scope, but Coldplay has been politely pleasing millions for 15 years. Many in the industry believe Adele’s phenomenal first week sales – 800,307 in the United Kingdom, according to the Official Charts Company – were boosted by her decision not to put the album on any streaming services, whether premium or freemium.

After initially denying Apple Music access to her albums because it was not going to pay artists during a free trial period, Swift publicly reconciled with the company and made her music available on the platform. Notably, Metallica headlines the third annual “CBS Radio’s The Night Before” on Super Bowl eve at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
