The host Boilermakers finished the event +18 (882; 292-287-303), and held on to claim the fifth and final team advancement slot from the regional.
The 14th-ranked Sooners placed fourth after rounds of 280-277-280 for a three-round score of 3-under par 837 that put them 14 strokes back of Stanford and Baylor, both of which finished at 823, and three strokes back of Pepperdine’s 834.
University of New Mexico senior Andrej Bevins has led the Lobo men’s golf team into the NCAA Championships. Alexander Hermann of Georgia State is now tied for sixth place and occupies the individual spot with a combined 144.
“We weren’t fortunate enough to get there a year ago, so I think it’s great that everyone played really well this week”, Smalley said. This even-par round is somewhat uncharacteristic of Morikawa, who shoots well under par in most rounds. “Now we’re at the pinnacle position we wanted to be in since the start of the season”.
Clark, who on the Pac-12 tournament last month, teed off 55 minutes ahead of Burns, a sophomore who had a five-shot lead going into the round. It marks only the second time (2014) in school history the Cyclones have qualified for the NCAA finals since the Regional format was introduced in 1990. The top five teams and low individual not on a qualifying team advance to the regional finals.
FSU begins its quest for an NCAA title on Friday, May 26, at Rich Harvest Farms.
On a round that ended with the program clinching its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Championship finals, perhaps the most memorable moment of the day instead came on the 13th hole.

Needing to climb into the top five to advance to their third straight championship, things didn’t get much better for USF on Wednesday, even though they had their best round of the tournament. I reminded the guys last night about that and we did that today. Ryan Gronlund finished tied for 55th at 16-over 232 after a final round 78. “Bottom line is we didn’t play well yesterday – especially on the back nine”. The sophomore collected a birdie on hole no. 8. The 15 teams will then play another 18 holes to determine the seeding for an eight-team match play bracket that will ultimately decide the national champion.
