Coli outbreak appears to be over: CDC
“Because it is not known if these infections are related to the previously reported outbreak of STEC O26 infections, these illnesses are not being included in the case count for that investigation”. The agency warns it could take some time before singling what food contains the toxic E.coli strain. The CDC said that all the five of them said that they had eaten at Chipotle, the week before they got sick. This investigation is ongoing, the CDC said. Jefferies Group reduced their price target on Chipotle Mexican Grill from $700.00 to $680.00 and set a hold rating on the stock in a research report on Wednesday, October 21st.

Concerning the recent outbreak, which has a different, rare DNA fingerprint than that of the previous cases, five ill people have been identified in Kansas, North Dakota and Oklahoma.
Out of five, three ate at a location in Oklahoma and two had food at a Kansas location.
The CDC said it does not know if the more recent cases are connected to the outbreak linked to Chipotle in late October which affected 53 people, according to media reports.
Chipotle has become the butt of jokes on social media, with people tweeting and posting Instagram photos about how they hope to not come down with E. coli after eating a burrito bowl.
In November, an outbreak of E. coli that sickened 19 people in seven states was linked to Costco’s rotisserie chicken salad. “Officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have indicated that additional cases from similar time periods may still be reported as they make their way through various state health departments to the federal health officials”.
“I will say though, that we can assure you today that there is no E. coli in Chipotle”, founder and co-CEO Steve Ells told CNBC last week.
Chipotle said it is in the process of implementing new measures to improve food safety.
Bill Marler, a food poisoning attorney who is representing customers who were sickened after eating at Chipotle, noted the chain had also been linked to other outbreaks of foodborne illnesses in California and Minnesota this summer.

Following the outbreak, Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. has said it is tightening standards to ensure food safety. Early laboratory testing detected the presence of norovirus, and the cases have not been linked to the E. coli outbreak; however, the restaurant remains closed while officials investigate the source of infection. Chipotle has started increasing food safety training of its employees as well.
