Colin Farrell To Join Sofia Coppola’s THE BEGUILED Remake

When the upcoming Coppola project was announced, it was said that the director had been in talks with Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning to star in the film. Farrell is in the frame to take over the role played by Eastwood.

The original was directed by Don Siegel, whose credits also include “Dirty Harry“, “Escape from Alcatraz” and John Wayne’s “The Shootist”, and was distributed by Universal Pictures. Also penned by Coppola, the film is now looking for a distribution, who will hopefully release it in 2017.

There’s no official start date for The Beguiled yet, but it should hit cinemas in 2017.

Farrell is coming off some of the best reviews of his career in Yorgos Lanthimos’ “The Lobster” and also appeared opposite Anthony Hopkins in “Solace”. Farrell plays a surgeon who takes a teenager into his home – a good deed that does not go unpunished.

Farrell will next star in “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them“, which is out in November, and Kidman, 48, will be seen in “Genius”, a biopic about literary editor Max Perkins.
