Colin Kaepernick ‘dead arm’ may cost him starting job, fantasy value
Colin Kaepernick was unable to play in the San Francisco 49ers’ first game of the preseason, leading many to believe Blaine Gabbert is going to run away with the starting quarterback job.

The San Francisco 49ers are starting their joint practice with the Denver Broncos, and while Colin Kaepernick is dressed and in pads, he is not throwing the football with the other quarterbacks.
Lewis suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the second half of the 24-13 loss to Houston and was placed on injured reserve to make room for Ponder. Without trying to control the game, the 49ers’ fast-paced offense still kept Houston’s defense guessing.
Kaepernick’s unsuccessful attempt to get a trade out of San Francisco was the catalyst for most of that. Yes, Kaepernick was disastrous the last time we saw him, a mess of inconsistencies and wild throwing, but there was a time in Kaepernick’s career that he was a monster.
LOS ANGELES – Dallas’ Dez Bryant caught a 10-yard touchdown pass, but the Los Angeles Rams earned a victory in their homecoming when Sean Mannion threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Green with 1:54 remaining for a 28-24 comeback over the Dallas Cowboys at the LA Coliseum on Saturday. We have never seen a dynamic quarterback in Chip Kelly’s offense and there is no point wasting time and starting Gabbert. Driskel completed just 4-of-12 passes for a whopping 20 yards in his debut, which equates out to an average of 1.7 yards-per-completion.
Kenneth Acker: A 13-game starter last season, Acker has been relegated to third-string status, and he gave up two touchdowns after halftime.
The 49ers had a nice drive going in the first quarter, having gotten a 22-yard run from Carlos Hyde and an 11-yard completion from Gabbert to tight end Vance McDonald.
“I think he feels fine”, Kelly said then. Kelly had said Friday Kaepernick was dealing with “arm fatigue”.
Osweiler, who signed a $72 million, four-year contract in the offseason, went 4 for 7 for 27 yards. He was signed as an emergency backup for the Broncos last November but was released two weeks later without ever seeing any game action. Gabbert had a 95.0 passer rating, totaling 63 passing yards to go with three scrambles for 18 yards in three series. “It wouldn’t have been fair to put him in and then judge him on that in the competition”.

The guy who plays is nearly always ahead of the guy who doesn’t, especially when coach Chip Kelly has said the exhibition season will be the largest determining factor. Driskel led the way with 61 yards, which included a 22 yard scamper.
