On Monday, the backup quarterback’s No. 7 jersey was the best seller among current 49ers players in the team’s online store, jumping from the No. 6 spot, according to Marketwatch.

Following Kaepernick’s lead, Lane also sat during the national anthem before the team’s preseason finale Thursday to call attention to racial inequality and police relations in the United States.
Since then, many people have supported him publicly and his jersey sales have boomed.
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane sat in a show of support. Kaepernick recently announced plans to donate million to communities in need. Teammate safety Eric Reid joined Kaepernick in his protest, while USA women’s soccer star Megan Rapinoe kneeled while the national anthem was being played before her game to show her solidarity.
“I’ve been very blessed to be in this position and make the kind of money I do”, the player, who will make a base salary of US$11.9 million this season with the 49ers, said last week.
“I mean I think it’s his right to be able to protest”, Bennett said.
“It’s about people having that right to have their voice, and I think it’s cool that Jeremy Lane is doing what he wants to do”. Seventy-two percent of black American approve of Kaepernick’s protest, while only 19 percent disapprove.
“I’ve never watched a football game but I’ve just bought a Colin Kaepernick jersey that I will proudly wear”, tweeted Twitter user Sean on Friday. “And if you want to protest about things that are going on, that’s fine”. Let us know what you think in the comments section below. He spoke with Seattle coach Pete Carroll after his initial gesture in Oakland and Carroll’s advice was “just be smart”.

“I don’t want to put no pressure on no one”, Lane said.
