“We’re not doing this made-up thing to get attention”, Jenkins said in the most recent issue of TIME that features a cover story of Kaepernick and the NFL’s protests.
Grant Cohn started this earlier in the week blaming Kaepernick for the post-game scene, suggesting Kaepernick should have deflected the protest questions to another time because the team had won, and it would take the focus away.
His boycott is spreading in the National Football League but also in other sports such as soccer and basketball: all players from in team have thus set one knee on Wednesday at the American anthem. Because what’s going on is not right.
Kaepernick’s decision not to stand for The Star-Spangled Banner before games in protest of racial and social inequality and police brutality has unquestionably fueled debate in the U.S. sports world and beyond.
“I haven’t heard about it around here and we haven’t talked about it”, Eastside coach Cedderick Daniels said. So I think, again, he’s shedding light on a situation that is heinous. We all have inalienable rights as a citizen of this country. He understands what his job is. Apparently, controversial political statements don’t tend to win you popularity contests. Kaepernick also outlined his plan to distribute $1 million over the next 10 months to community organizations he’s vetting, with those donations charted on a website he’s building for full transparency. “If a person is voicing their opinion peacefully, why should I be upset at it?” He’s balanced it really well, and he’s managed it really well.
“Overall, 47 percent of those polled said they oppose Kaepernick’s protest, with 32 percent voicing support, and the remaining 21 percent either neutral or declining to answer”. That’s America, this is what our country is about, it’s non-violent protest.

“He’s asked questions about a subject and he’s answered those questions”, Kelly responded. When asked about his motivation back in August, the quarterback told NFL.com that “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color”.
