Colin Kaepernick my have played his last down as a member of the San Francisco 49ers as the team placed him on injured reserve today.

The 49ers Saturday morning announced that the team placed quarterback, Colin Kaepernick on the injured reserve list. Unless the 49ers don’t want to use Blaine Gabbert as their starting Quarterback next year.
Asked if Kaepernick has expressed any bitterness toward the organization, Baalke said, “Not that I know of”.
“I think when you’re the starting quarterback, the leadership part is there, regardless if you’re a starter for one week, two weeks, three weeks”, Gabbert said.
Kaepernick has no more fully guaranteed money on his six-year, $114-million contract, and he actually lost almost a million in pergame roster bonuses by going on IR. If he’s not on the team next year, it’ll hit them with $7M in dead money against the salary cap. If Kaepernick can pass a physical on or before April 1, the 49ers could trade or release him and that would be that.
Rookie first-round pick Arik Armstead played a season-high 46 snaps in Dorsey’s absence.
“To me, you’re not afraid to punt”, Tomsula said Sunday.
“Right now is not the time to get into the particulars”, Baalke insisted.
The 49ers (3-6) will visit Seattle (4-5) on Sunday. According to the Sacramento Bee, he has had the injury since the team’s October 4 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Kaepernick’s future with the 49ers is in question. And the 49ers will keep telling us that Gabbert is a roster keeper while they start dropping draft hints about Jared Goff.
“This was just a decision that I just felt like I wanted Colin to step back and breathe”, head coach Jim Tomsula said in early November, per ESPN.com’s Paul Gutierrez. The Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, NY Jets, and Denver Broncos, who more than likely will lose Peyton Manning after this season, have already been mentioned as possible destinations for Kaepernick.
In their first meeting this year, the Seahawks sacked Kaepernick six times. It’s been a year of nothing but avalanches for the 49ers and the faithful, from the closing moments of the previous season up until now, and nothing positive seems to be waiting for them anytime soon. Kaepernick compiled 542 yards and four touchdown passes in the fourth quarter-almost all of which came in garbage time. After assuming they had their backup through the balance of the season, they had to promote Dylan Thompson from the practice squad.

Their defense is set up by coordinator Eric Mangini, whose unit gave up 209 rushing yards to Rawls (who only carried that much because Marshawn Lynch was out) – the most ever gained by a runner against the 49ers.
