Colin Kaepernick reportedly cooling on the Cleveland Browns
Kaepernick would also be interested in playing for Denver, as it is a strong team and a stable situation where he would be unlikely to be supplanted quickly.

The Jets were reported earlier in the offseason to having interest in Kaepernick and the 49ers quarterback was reported to saying that the Jets were his preferred landing spot, but the reported got denied by both sides and nothing ever got done.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers are discussing a trade for Niners quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Well, the Cleveland Browns pick second overall in the 2016 NFL Draft, while the 49ers pick seventh. Hue Jackson was a part of the 2011 Oakland Raiders staff that had Kaepernick high on their draft board that season.
Whom is Kaepernick competing against in the quarterback market, possibly for that Broncos vacancy?
I have confidence in John Elway winning this negotiating battle with the 49ers front office. But with Kaepernick wanting out, it’s likely the 49ers want other teams to challenge the Broncos for his services. On April 1st, his $11.9 million base salary becomes fully guaranteed.
“If you look at the three most important things for any player at any position, number one would be competitiveness”, Harbaugh said (via the San Jose Mercury News).
Kaepernick has been rehabilitating from those surgeries in Vail, Colorado, where he was Thursday while reports circulated about possible trades. He has always liked him. The Super Bowl champions obviously are a better, more stable team and, given that they are picking last in the draft, there’s a lesser chance that Kaepernick would be supplanted in the starting role in coming years by a draft pick the general manager is invested in.

Neither of those developments should significantly affect trade talks with the 49ers. Kaepernick’s six-year, $114 million contract runs through 2020.
