Colin Powell: Trump is a “national disgrace” and “international pariah”

The content of Powell’s e-mails, leaked by a group calling itself DCLeaks, was published first on the conservative news Web site BuzzFeed.

In addition to saying that Trump is a “national disgrace” and “an worldwide pariah”, Powell said the Republican nominee “is in the process of destroying himself, no need for Dems (Democrats) to attack him”.

The email shows Powell telling Democratic donor Jeffrey Leeds that he hopes to avoid having to vote for Hillary Clinton for president, pointing to the New York Post’s coverage of her husband’s alleged affairs.

Former National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, who served with Powell in Republican George W. Bush’s administration, agreed, writing to Powell that: “I don’t think Hillary’s ‘everyone did it, ‘ is flying.”Powell was harsher in an August 21 message to a friend and former aide, writing: “Well, their email ploy this week didn’t work and she once again looks shifty if not a liar”.

“That’s what the 99% believe”, Powell wrote. In the same email, Powell said Trump “appeals to the worst angels of the GOP nature and poor white folks”.

Powell is not commenting on the hack, but he also told BuzzFeed “I’m not denying it”.

In an earlier email between the two discussing a Peggy Noonan column about Clinton’s use of a private e-mail server, Leeds used the term “HATE” to describe the Democratic nominee’s take on her loss to Obama in 2008. “I had to throw a mini tantrum at a Hampton’s party to get their attention”. “The most severe hacks could come in the last two weeks to sway the election, that’s our fear”.

In a new set of emails posted at DCLeaks (which, no surprise, may have a Russian connection), you can read Powell sounding off on a number of issues. Powell also dissed Bill Clinton by saying he’s still “dicking bimbos at home”. “Paul Ryan is calibrating his position again”, Powell said of the speaker of the House who had only recently chose to endorse Trump at the time of the email.

In another message not to an aide, Powell denounced Donald Trump as a “national disgrace and an global pariah”. Federal officials believe it could be the work of hackers tied to Russian intelligence agencies, an external influence on the US election that could get worse before Election Day.

I have told Hilleary’s [sic] minions repeatedly that they are making a mistake trying to drag me in, yet they still try.

“I have no further comment”.

Powell told People that he did not recommend the use of private email to Clinton until a year after she was already using a private server.

Even so, Powell voices his frustration with the Clinton campaign in one of the latest leaked emails, reported by NBCNews.
