College Football Power Rankings: Utah moves; Florida, Michigan enter

In the past, an opponent scoring big wasn’t always a recipe for disaster for the up-tempo Ducks. Not only did he get a late start on the Oregon playbook-not even practicing until the middle of August-he’s had all of one game at remotely close to complete health, as he broke his right index finger against Eastern Washington in the team’s season-opener. “That’s the nature of the game, the ebb and flow of the season”.

The Utes pulled back in front on Wilson’s 26-yard touchdown pass to wide-open Britain Covey in the end zone, then pushed the lead to 20-16 with Wilson’s 7-yard pass to Kenneth Scott.

“We didn’t see a lot of things that we hadn’t practiced”, Pellum told the USA Today. Virginia was blown out by Boise State, Texas lost again at home and Georgia Tech lost at Duke. The Ducks hadn’t given up that many points since yielding 63 to Nebraska 30 years ago. The Ducks gave up the most points in Autzen Stadium history in their second loss of the season.

We learned previous year that a college football playoff doesn’t completely eliminate controversy. As for writing off their Pac-12 North chances, let’s not get carried away.

That is nothing to take lightly, especially when there were two of the best running backs in the conference on the field in Oregon’s Royce Freeman and Utah’s Devontae Booker.

The Cougars were on a bye this week and face their first legitimate opponent in Cal next week.

Utah, meanwhile, thrived with the return of quarterback Travis Wilson from a sprained shoulder. “It’s a great win for this program and a great step for this offense”.

So through four weeks, while many teams are compiling quality wins to varying degrees, the Buckeyes have… zippo.

This isn’t your one-year older self’s Colorado team: The Buffaloes blanked Nicholls State’s offense in a 48-0 victory. Utah is off this week. I slotted UCLA in the 5-hole after its dominating performance at Arizona.

We only had a couple games with actual meaning for the top 25 this week.

The Bruins scored 42 first-half points in the 56-30 win. Despite two blocks, the Wildcats took the match 25-23. Arizona’s dynamic offense was not bad on Saturday, but there were simply too many unforced errors made. Utah also came down with two forced fumbles by Jason Fanaika and Jared Norris – one of which set up a 6-yard touchdown run by Kendal Thompson.

Next: at Stanford, October 3. But Arizona State’s got a few issues. “We practice with both of them all the time, we should be comfortable with both of them and ready to get into a groove no matter who’s back there, and it’s just handling business”.

The Ducks first found their offensive when Byron Marshall returned a kick for 77 yards, and a facemask penalty moved the ball to the Utah 11 yard line. They finished 5-6 that season, the only losing record for the program since 1993. “I didn’t make many mistakes this week – only one bogey all week”. Even so, the Sun Devils really miss the talents of now-NFL WR Jaelen Strong on the outside and Bercovici hasn’t recaptured the magic he showed as an injury replacement last season.

Wetzel went so far as to say Utah should be No. 1 on the “Wetzel to Forde Daily Podcast.” He also added a 33-yard run on a high snap that may or may not have been a fake punt (sorry, FOX analyst Joel Klatt, I don’t think that was a called play) which ultimately led to a touchdown. Marshall was hurt on a kickoff return early in the 2nd half and had to be helped off the field by trainers.
