College Station police said Victor Manuel Garcia-Loyo, 22, of the Austin suburb of Del Valle confessed to killing 21-year-old Maricarmen Quiroz-Octaviano, whom he was dating.
They found the woman’s body inside her apartment.
Investigators setup an interview with Garcia-Loyo shortly after the murder but he never arrived at the police station.
Sunday morning, cell phone tower pings provided a location for Garcia-Loyo in Fort Worth where local police found him with bloody clothes, a handgun and ammunition matching what was found at the crime scene. He said he also shot his hand during the fight.
A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a Texas A&M student.
During police questioning Garcia-Loyo admitted to shooting Quiroz-Octaviano several times during an argument at her apartment.
Garcia-Loyo was charged with murder and is in the Brazos County Jail.
A person of interest in the woman’s death has been identified but no one is in custody.
