Newark police say they do not suspect foul play in the death of a man who fell off the roof of an off-campus fraternity house at the University of Delaware. The victim was treated by paramedics and rushed to Christiana Hospital.

The President of Skidmore College Philip Glotzbach released a letter to the college community and said, “Our hearts go out to Will’s family members, his friends on campus, and those back home”.

Willem Golden, of Cohassett, Massachusetts, was a first-year student and hockey player at Skidmore, according to the college.

Officers called to the Sigma Pi house at 153 W. Main St. just before 4 p.m. found the man unresponsive, spokesman Sgt. Gerald Bryda said. Investigators said the roof was wet from a light rain, and that witnesses said Golden appeared to have slipped and fallen.

Golden was apparently a guest at the residence, police said.

The university also confirmed that the incident happened at a residence where fraternity members live, but the residence is not a fraternity house. He played forward for the Skidmore Thouroughbreds, and had played lacrosse before college for the Boston Bandits in the Eastern Hockey League.
