College student shot in the head at party near Tennessee State University

One person was shot in the head and two other individuals were also injured during a shooting incident near Tennessee State University early Wednesday morning.

As many as 200 people were attending the party at the time of the shooting.

A preliminary investigation revealed a large party was taking place at the home directly across the street from TSU’s campus, said Haley.

Police say a few hundred people were there when a group of armed men arrived and were turned away. Police said one was in very critical condition after being shot in the head.

It’s not clear why students from the three schools were gathered near TSU’s campus. They go to Tennessee State University, Middle Tennessee State University and Nashville State Community College.

“The first suspect is a black male who is 5’9”, weighs 220 pounds and has a fade haircut.

The second suspect was a male black, 5-feet 11-inches tall, 160 pounds, with a dark complexion, dreadlocks hair style and was wearing a purple hoodie. The third suspect, whose physical description was not reported, is wearing a green hoodie.

The shooting happened at an off-campus party just after midnight
