Juergen Klinsmann has long talked of the Copa America Centenario as a measuring stick for his national team, a way to see how the usa stacks up against some of the world’s top soccer nations.

The Friday night Copa America opener was against Colombia and USMNT, which lasts all the night, and Team USA’s boring performance leads to Colombia to USMNT (2-0).
Jurgen Klinsmann insists “there was no difference” between the two sides after Colombia beat his United States team 2-0 in the Copa America Centenario opener. Michael Bradley called it a “big opportunity”. “They were ruthless in terms of their ability to know what the game was going to need and close space and make things very hard”. Not against this worthy opponent.
“Obviously, we want to get as far as we can in the tournament, but we also want to showcase our game to the rest of the world because down the road we want to host the World Cup again”, Klinsmann said. Colombia has beaten the U.S.in the two previous Copa America meetings between the two nations in 1995 and 2007.
Sure, the Americans had their moments when forward Clint Dempsey barely missed twice in the second half.
Alejandro Bedoya was given a yellow card in the 57th minute for the US for his late challenge. United States of America vs Colombia scores and results will be posted here.
Garcia awarded the penalty when Yedlin, just inside the penalty area, jumped and turned to try to avoid a cross by Farid Diaz but left his right arm elevated as the ball hit. In the 40th minute, Yedlin was booked for a handball attempting to block a cross on yet another set piece.
It is worth noting, James Rodriguez left the match in the 73rd minute with an apparent shoulder injury.
The Americans will look to rebound on Tuesday against Costa Rica at Chicago, then close their group stage four days later against Paraguay at Philadelphia.
A star-studded celebration of the world’s oldest global football tournament will get under way in Santa Clara, Calif., on Friday when the United States takes on Colombia to open the Copa América Centenario. “We have no choice but to respond in a big way”.
With Los Cafeteros satisfied to protect their lead, the United States fared better in the second half. Dempsey’s header off a Bradley corner was kept off the line in the 60th minute.
The United States almost pulled within one in the 60 minute when Clint Dempsey’s close-range header was saved by Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina.
Colombia, which lost to the United States in a stunning defeat during the 1994 World Cup, made sure the hosts didn’t enjoy another giant-killing effort.

Colombia needed just eight minutes to pull ahead when a perfectly executed corner kick by the South Americans allowed Cristian Zapata to break free of the American defense and fire an uncontested shot past goalkeeper Brad Guzan. But the team has Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez leading the attack with AC Milan’s Carlos Bacca.
