Colorado Planned Parenthood shooting victims file suit

The widow of Ke’ Arere Stewart and Samantha Wagner, who was shot in the arm, are accusing the abortion business of being responsible for the attack due to negligence, in a lawsuit filed in Denver District Court on Friday. Without the state funding, Planned Parenthood would be forced to stop providing services such as pap smears and other cancer screenings, tests for HIV/AIDS and tests and treatment for other STDs, infant mortality prevention programs and sexual health education programs.

In a statement to Buzzfeed News, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains said the safety of patients and staff “is, and always has been, a priority for us”.

The organization did increase security measures following a shooting at a Planned Parenthood center in Colorado Springs last November.

“Unlike the bad tragedies at Sandy Hook and Aurora, where there really was no notice, there really was no awareness on the part of those businesses that something like that could happen, unlike those, this shooting was – given the threat level – was predictable”, said Kirk McCormick, attorney representing Wagner.

Authorities say hazardous materials teams have found and removed as-yet-unidentified chemicals inside cleaning closets at a Florida Planned Parenthood clinic after staffers were evacuated.

Victims of the mass shooting on a Colorado Planned Parenthood clinic are suing the organization, claiming it should have known it was a target for violence and could have done more to protect its clients.

The clinic had no security guards, no fence and no secure entrance, despite almost weekly public protests, the claim states. “It provided no signs, posters, verbal or any other type of warning”, the lawsuit said.

“They were on notice”.

A judge ruled on May 11 that admitted shooter Robert Lewis Dear Jr.is not mentally fit to stand trial. And yet, he managed to bring four guns and two propane tanks into a health clinic and kill three people: Ka’Arere Stewart, Jennifer Tarkovsky, and Garret Swasey. He has not entered a plea to 179 counts of murder, attempted murder and other crimes.
