The Tennessee Titans activated running back David Cobb from the injured reserve/designated to return list on Wednesday and waived veteran quarterback Charlie Whitehurst.
Whitehurst had the best season of his career previous year starting five games for Tennessee and throwing for 1,326 yards with seven touchdowns and only two interceptions.
It took former Titan Charlie Whitehurst only 24 hours to find a new National Football League home.
Tavai was signed as an undrafted free agent during the spring, and was injured in the teams first preseason game with the Atlanta Falcons. He also registered four carries for 13 yards.
Luck is expected to miss two to six weeks with a lacerated kidney.
Originally a 3rd round pick of the San Diego Chargers in the 2006 NFL Draft, Whitehurst has also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks and just recently the Tennessee Titans.

Whitehurst, who signed with the Titans in 2013, was the Titans third-string quarterback and was to serve as a mentor to young quarterbacks Marcus Mariota and Zach Mettenberger. He tied the school record with seven wins over Top-25 teams, including three victories against Top-10 teams. He was named Second Team All-ACC as a senior after completing 229-of-340 passes for 2,483 yards and 11 touchdowns, as his 67.4 completion percentage set a school record and ranked fifth in the nation.
