Colts place key defender Henry Anderson on injured reserve; out for season

It will likely be more of a rotation than it was before, and the Colts will count on a combination of those guys to try to fill in for Anderson. He went down with a knee injury and did not return, and coach Chuck Pagano seemed pessimistic about his prognosis after the game.

The Indianapolis Colts have placed rookie defensive tackle Henry Anderson on injured reserve, the team announced Monday.

He left during the second half of Sunday’s 27-24 victory over Denver with what the team described as a sprained right knee. The Colts have placed Anderson on season-ending injured reserve.

The Colts now have two open spots on their active roster after the team waived cornerback Tony Carter on Monday. That gives Adams a full two weeks to deal with his injury, if it indeed turns out to be minor. It was Adams’ fifth interception, tied with Oakland’s Charles Woodson for most in the National Football League this season. Free agent signing Kendall Langford has been a very solid addition along the defensive line for general manager Ryan Grigson and can make plays.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, defensive end Henry Anderson is believed to have torn his ACL. Anderson finishes his rookie year with 31 tackles and a sack in nine games.

With Anderson out, the Colts will turn to veteran Billy Winn and young T.Y. McGill to fill the void.
