Indianapolis remains tied with Houston for first place in the AFC South with the two set for a showdown next week.

The Texans signed Yates in-season following the release of Ryan Mallett who battled Hoyer for the starting role in Houston into the season.

The victor of this week’s game will be in the driver’s seat for both the division title and a spot in the playoffs.

Reports close to the team said the Colts are not optimistic that Luck will play Sunday and may miss the remainder of the season entirely.

“I got nothing to say”, he told a crowd of reporters around his locker. Never – not once – have they won a game in the city of Indianapolis.

Coming off consecutive losses by a combined margin of 70 points, the Colts need something to breathe life into this dying season.

With uncertainty surrounding the status of Colts quarterback Andrew Luck and when he will be able to return, it’s important that they have a solid backup quarterback in Matt Hasselbeck.

“That’s what comes with this job”, Pagano said. “(He’s) taking it day by day. “But hopefully will be out there Thursday”. The defense was without three starters (four if you continue to count Henry Anderson), forcing players like Bjoern Werner into a bigger role. Let us know why or why not in the comment box below! “It’s been one of those funky years where you tend to get things rolling, and then something happens”. “They can’t hit you in the neck and head area, but they can hit you”. Sure, the Jaguars trailing certainly plays a factor, but Bortles still only had 17 throws going into the second half. But three fumbles provided a spark. D’Qwell Jackson leads the Colts with 129 tackles, Vontae Davis has 13 pass deflections and Dwight Lowery has four interceptions.

The final one changed the game. On the ground, Frank Gore rushed for 60 yards in 16 attempts. Jaguars had a season-high 154 yards rushing…. But once the game got out of hand, the running back was largely forgotten.

It doesn’t get much lower than being smacked around by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He also has Allen Hurns, who has 51 catches for 863 yards and eight touchdowns and tight end Julio Thomas, who has 36 catches for 352 yards and five touchdowns. The Jaguars carried that momentum into the second half, and after Bortles found Robinson for a touchdown late in the third, the only thing left was to see how many points the Jaguars would score.

They could have used a life-preserver for health reasons, after wide receiver Vincent Jackson went down early after aggravating a knee injury and defensive lineman Gerald McCoy was in and out with a knee issue as well. Bortles also fumbled three times. Jacksonville scored on a 80-yard touchdown pass and a 73-yard punt return touchdown.

-RUN DEFENSE: C plus.

Jacksonville running back T.J. Yeldon carried the ball 11 times for 62 yards, but he exited with an injury and was on crutches postgame.

-SPECIAL TEAMS: B-plus. This would have been an A except for Jason Myers’ seventh missed extra point. Punter Pat McAfee averaged 34.6 yards net on seven punts, 47.9 yards overall. It was another awful week for the Colts offense inside the 20-yard line. And Myers had nine kickoffs for touchbacks.

When the Colts went three-and-out on their next possession, punter Pat McAfee kicked to Jaguars returner Rashad Greene.

-COACHING: D. The Colts are in a funk right now, losing two straight blowout games on the road.

Tuesday will mark the fifth full week in Luck’s recovery, for a timetable that was originally two-to-six weeks. Still, despite the poor showings against Pittsburgh and Jacksonville, Indianapolis controls its own destiny. The Colts’ previous loss against the AFC South came on December 16, 2012, at Houston.
