Actor and former Scandal star Columbus Short will serve three years probation after pleading no contest Thursday for an assault case that occurred last year.

A onetime choreographer for Britney Spears, Short was accused of punching a man at Gabe’s Bar and Grill and rendering him unconscious.

“We came to an agreement with the prosecutor and the court”, Short’s attorney, Ludlow B. Creary II, told TheWrap. He was also ordered to complete 26 anger management classes and to pay restitution, the amount of which will be determined at an October. 21 hearing. He was arrested for drunk driving in July 2008, LAPD records show.

Short had faced up to four years in prison if convicted. “I was doing cocaine and drinking a lot and trying to balance a 16-hour work schedule a day and a family, and I just lost myself back then”.

Following Short’s arrest, his wife filed for divorce and was granted a temporary restraining order after alleging Short had threatened to kill her and himself.
