Microsoft has finally added Google Drive support for Outlook on Web to allow users to receive and edit the files from the Internet version of its email client.

If you have files stored in Google Drive you can now attach them to Outlook.com messages.

The support also enables users to open up Google files, like Google Docs, Slides or Sheets, within their Outlook.com window. When the new features are available they will be listed as an option under the attachment icon. The company has also added the support for Facebook and made it easier to search for attachment in long conversations with its update to Outlook. Once added, your Google Drive appears as a source when attaching files.

Last but not least, Microsoft is also making it easier to view all attachments in a certain conversation thanks to a new attachment icon included in every thread that lets you view all files that you or your contacts previously sent. If you have the correct file permissions, you can edit it right there without leaving Outlook.

Currently, if you receive an edit link to a Google Drive document in Outlook you have to edit it in a separate Google Drive tab.

These new features are available on migrated Outlook.com accounts on the web.

The steps for connecting a Facebook account to Outlook, meanwhile, are the same as connecting an account to Google Drive – simply click on the attachment icon after creating a new message and enter your Facebook information. If you have long conversations where someone shares documents with you in different emails, Outlook.com will show an attachment icon on the top of the conversation – and clicking on it will show all the attachments that are present in that specific conversation. Just click that to open a drop-down list of all the attachments in the conversation – no more clicking through each reply or having to expand the thread.
