Comedian Jon Stewart bows out of The Daily Show
According to Nielsen, Thursday’s debate was the most watched non-sports cable telecast of all time. Not only did Cenac show up to the taping, he participated in a quiet nod toward his WTF appearance when he and Stewart asked each other, “You good?” which is a direct reference to Maron’s signature resolution lines.

Some of Stewart’s comedy targets appeared in cameos to get in a final word.
Wolf Blitzer wished Stewart well as the screen behind him on the CNN set read, “Screw you, Stewart“.
Clinton noted that Stewart was leaving just as she’s running for president. “What a bummer”.
There were also video messages from US Secretary of State John Kerry and Republican Senator John McCain.
“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” series finale was also the show’s most social episode ever.
On his way out the door, Jon Stewart helped raise $2.2 million for an autism charity. He closed his last sermon by reminding viewers: “If you smell something, say something“.
Watch Stewart’s moment of zen below. Pergament says Stewart will be a “tough act to follow”. “It is one of the few times I’ve known you to be dead wrong”, Colbert said to an emotional Stewart. We owe you – and not just what you did for our careers by employing us to come on this tremendous show that you made – we owe you because we learned from you.
“From start to finish, it was fantastic”, said audience member Randy Gunnell, 29, of Westchester County, New York. “What’s exciting for me about Trevor being able to do this is that it gives people who like this show a chance to fall in love again”.
The send-off began with Stewart thanking everyone who put their efforts into the show before Colbert interrupted the uproarious applause.
Yeah, leave it to Stephen Colbert to be the voice of reason out of everything on television last night.
Yet, even on his big night Stewart was overshadowed by one of his greatest rivals, Fox News.
