The 6,500-plus audience, many of whom had queued overnight at San Diego’s annual film and pop culture event, were introduced to the lead cast of the Black Panther movie, directed by Creed filmmaker Ryan Coogler.
While Marvel has been unforthcoming about “Doctor Strange” plot, however, the new trailer gave fans a deeper look into the relationship of Doctor Strange and The Ancient One.
We see Tilda Swinton as Strange’s mentor, the Ancient One, who takes him under her wing and teaches him that it’s possible to “harness energy and shape reality”.
Odd meets even stranger people at the Ancient One’s abode in Tibet. “Fantastic Beasts”, due out in November, is a spin-off from the magical “Harry Potter” universe created by J.K. Rowling.
