Commission: Both Candidates Must Stand for First Debate
Other polls in New York, Nevada, North Carolina and Wisconsin show the Democratic nominee either losing ground to Trump or failing to win ground, as is the case in Wisconsin’s Marquette University poll.

The Quinnipiac poll was conducted September 13-21 among a sample of 659 likely voters in Virginia and carries a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points. Reuters/Ipsos polling shows about 20 per cent of the electorate remains undecided, far higher at this stage in the campaign than the 12 per cent undecided four years ago.
Clinton has campaigned alongside a group of black women called the “Mothers of the Movement”, who advocated for more accountability and transparency by law enforcement.
Kaine often bemoans the outsized influence of rich donors on politics and told reporters on his campaign plane Thursday he supports “dramatic” reform of the federal campaign finance system.
“Actually, I am not losing any sleep over any of this”, says Anne Hess, a Manhattan philanthropist who’s raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Hillary Clinton. Among registered voters, a majority of support for Clinton is just that – support for Clinton (as opposed to support against Trump).
“Donald Trump knows, the team knows that Monday night is going to be not necessarily make or break, but the momentum coming out of Monday night could be critical on both sides and Donald Trump knows that”, said Rep. Chris Collins, a New York Republican, as he walked out of what could be the final meeting of Trump’s congressional supporters.
In 2012, the notion of not believing the polls was a Republican talking point. Which could only mean, Republicans said, that the polls were skewed – so much so that a cottage industry grew up around “unskewing” them. Donald Trump, conversely, has at least two events scheduled for the weekend before the first debate. “I would say I have it the right way and those voting for candidates they don’t like have it backward”.
On Wednesday, Clinton, a former US secretary of state looking to become the country’s first female president, said the killings are “unbearable and need to become intolerable”. “And I think that’s meant to make up for questions that he can get that can be hard for him to answer”, Palmieri said. Someone on the police radio says, “I think he may have just been tasered”. “They need your thanks, and they need your gratitude”, he said. Though not everyone agrees.
As in New Hampshire, Clinton has not trailed Trump in a public poll in Pennsylvania since late July. “There is a chance that Trump will go off the rails, but if he doesn’t – if he sticks to the script – this is going to be a close race all the way through”.
At his evening rally, Trump hit back, accusing Clinton of supporting – “with a nod” – “the narrative of cops as a racist force in our society”.
Trump, in particular, has struggled to balance a message that appeals to his white, working-class base with one that improves his standing with minorities and educated whites who may worry about racial undertones in his candidacy.
“There is an enthusiasm gap”.
“Donald Trump knows that Monday night is absolutely critical”, he said.
Voters seem to share Clinton’s concerns.
“And this debate even more so”, Reynolds added, “as they will actually be tracking analytics of social media”.
“The numbers will shift slightly from day to day or from week to week”.

Trump says: “A lot of people are watching to see whether or not he succumbs to that pressure”. “I think folks have come to realize that bed-wetting doesn’t solve the problem”.
