Community’s Dan Harmon has contributed to the Doctor Strange script
Marvel Studios has tapped Community creator Dan Harmon to work on extra scenes for upcoming movie Doctor Strange.

While we don’t now know exactly what Harmon’s writing in those extra scenes, or how many there are, his track record might imply that he’s adding a few quips or one-liners to lighten the tone.
The Hollywood Reporter learned that Harmon’s scenes were “for additional photography”.
Harmon has proven himself as a comedic writer, creating not only “Community” but also the Adult Swim cartoon “Rick and Morty”. Marvel has mined Community for talent before; Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo directed several seminal episodes of the show.
This is purely speculation on my part, but I wonder if Harmon was hired to write some scenes that better explain some of the exposition that will undoubtedly be needed to help explain the new mystical side of the Marvel cinematic universe.
Given Harmon’s sitcom background, one would imagine he was brought in to punch some humour into the new scenes though it’s entirely possible he’s looking to move in a new direction in his writing career and the re-writes could be his audition for future work with Marvel.

Either way, Doctor Strange isn’t the first superhero tentpole to ushered back before the cameras – nor will it be the last. The original screenplay was written by Scott Derrickson (who also directs) and C Robert Cargill, a pair who previously worked together on the lean Blumhouse horror, Sinister, while Jon Spaihts received a story credit. We’ll find out when the credits roll after we see the movie on November 4, and hopefully we’ll find out what scenes he wrote shortly thereafter.
