Computer shutdown delays Delta air traffic
Delta Air Lines says limited flights have begun several hours after a computer outage grounded its flights around the world and stranded thousands of people.

There’s no doubt that the Delta system outage is pretty much the worst (I’m going to say a special prayer for all the parents out there traveling with young kids – yikes!).
Delta further said in a statement it had “experienced a computer outage that has impacted flights scheduled for this morning”.
“Our systems are down everywhere”, it tweeted in response to disgruntled customers.
The flight tracking site FlightStats Inc. said that there were delays on more than 1,000 Delta flights before noon.
It also partners for transatlantic flights with Virgin Atlantic, which said its flights were operating normally but cautioned that passengers should check tickets in case their flight was due to be operated by Delta as part of a code-share agreement. Getting information on the status of flights was particularly frustrating for passengers.
Delta planes are parked at gates at Atlanta’s Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta, Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, as Delta Air Lines grounded all flights after after a power outage hit its computer systems globally.
Delta issued an apology to customers and said teams were attempting to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
The Joseph family from Suffern, New York, arrived at LaGuardia Airport in New York for a flight to Orlando, the start of a vacation to Disney World for their six children.
“We’re feeling OK. We’re excited to go Disneyworld”.
“The flight was only delayed by an hour and right now it’s delayed by about 4-5 hours”, he said.
Airline travel always seems to be fraught with some kind of unforeseen complication, but for passengers scheduled to fly Delta Airlines, well, this one’s a real doozy.

Bodeen said that passengers were taking the matter in stride.
