Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5, 2017. He hasn’t decided yet if he’s going to do a Vol. 3 and the Guardians team itself (in whatever form it may be by the time Vol. 2 is done) may ultimately have a very different path through the MCU.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 still hasn’t released that footage from San Diego Comic Con, but fans do have their first glimpse at a scene from the film in the form of new concept art, featuring a weird, mutant space octopus. We know Baby Groot is in the movie – that he’s not an adult.
While we still have not got the Avengers: Infinity War cast list confirmed, last week Vin Diesel revealed that the Guardians will be making an appearance in the upcoming film. We do know that Sylvester Stallone is playing a mystery character.
Newcomers to the franchise who will make their debut in the sequel include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby) in an unspecified role, and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight) as Ego, Peter Quill’s father. Gunn replied that the monster villain is an Abilisk. About the deadly looking alien, Gunn says this. “The Guardians have been hired to fight him”.
It is well known that Doctor Strange will be exploring multi-dimensions and alternate universes. Lego called their version of the monster a Portal Beast.

In an interview with Empire, Gunn said, Russell “was actually not in my head initially”. Those are the kind of the things that we know, that are out there right now, and then – as time goes on – we’ll let you know a little bit more, if you want to pay attention.
