Concerns surrounding the Zika Virus after the spread of it in Florida

Florida on Friday said the first four cases of Zika in the state likely were caused by mosquitoes, the first sign that the virus is circulating locally, although it has yet to identify mosquitoes carrying the disease.

“We definitely don’t take this lightly”.

Long said she was not at all anxious about Zika, even though she worked in health care, and did not even know about the travel warning for pregnant women. Most of us aren’t going there, but it does have some local families changing their travel plans.

Women who are pregnant and live in or may have travelled to the area since June 15 should talk with their doctor, Frieden added. Because Zika infection has been found to linger in sperm for months, men with Zika symptoms should wait at least six months before trying to have a baby with their partner.
