Condemnation after two children raped in India
Police in Delhi, India questioned more than 250 residents of the western Delhi neighbourhood where the toddler was raped and left bleeding in a park on Friday night.

In a separate similar incident, a five-year-old girl was gang-raped by three men in the east of the city.
A series of recent attacks has renewed public fury and horror over India’s inability to halt chronic violence against women and girls.
West Delhi police chief, Pushpendra Kumar, confirms: “We have launched a manhunt for the suspects”. Around 1.30 AM, the girl was spotted – bleeding profusely and crying – at a park, less than half-a-kilometre away from her residence, said police.
TWO juveniles were arrested on Sunday in connection with the gangrape of a toddler in west Delhi’s Nangloi area, a senior police official said.
“Her clothes were partially torn with blood spots all over them”. Both the girls have suffered severe injuries and are recovering in hospital.
The latest attacks come eight days after a four-year-old girl was allegedly raped and slashed with a blade before being abandoned by a railway track in the capital. Kejriwal said Delhi Police, which reports to the union home ministry and the Lt. Governor, had become ineffective because of which there was no fear among criminals.
Anmol said that both Centre and Delhi government are engaged in a blame game as the issues relating to women safety go unheeded. “I remember when Nirbhaya rape happened, Arvind Kejriwal tweeted against Sheila Dikshit who was the Chief Minister that if the Chief Minister of Delhi is so helpless, then she should resign”. “What is the PM doing?”
The President of the Federation of Indian Associations in New South Wales said Indian Australians have expressed horror at these latest attacks against children. “PM sir, give control of Delhi Police to Delhi government for one year. What kind of animals are these?” demanded the head of the Delhi Commission for Women Swati Maliwal. After their interrogation, the police zeroed in on a few and later the two juveniles were arrested. “Most of these incidents have been reported in lower-income areas like slums and densely populated areas, where mostly migrants stay”, she said.
Three years ago, when a 23-year-old woman was raped and murdered in an unimaginable act of violence in Delhi, Indians, it seemed, had had enough.

According to India’s National Crime Records Bureau, the number of rapes in the country rose by 9% to 33,707 past year, of which almost 2,000 – the highest number – were in Delhi.
