A source said while the United States had strongly condemned the attack in Pathankot, as it has now, it had not followed up by asking Pakistan to cooperate in the investigation.

The United States has urged Pakistan to cooperate in the investigation into the terrorist attack on an Indian Army camp at Uri in Kashmir on Sunday, suggesting by implication that it can help.

Despite Islamabad’s strong denial of any involvement in Sunday’s attack, India’s politicians have lined up to apportion blame to Pakistan.

Director General of Military operation Lt. Ranbir Singh yesterday said that the four terrorists, who attacked the military base in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri, belonged to Pakistan’s banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

India-Pakistan ties have been in free fall since Islamabad described Burhan Wani, a terrorist belonging to the Hizbul Mujahideen group who was shot dead by Indian security forces, as a “martyr” and a “Kashmiri leader”.

During a meeting in New York, Kerry also reportedly raised concerns about the Uri attack and called for restraint in the development of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons programme. He stressed that the global community should stop India from committing human rights violations inside Kashmir. “We must not give in to this logic, including in conflicts between India and Pakistan”, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said. “It is alarming, and according to New Delhi, the attack on military unit near the town of Uri was committed from the territory of Pakistan”, Russia said.

“Pakistan fully supports self-determination of Kashmiris’ legitimate demand”, he said.

These brutalities, the prime minister said, would not suppress the spirit of the Kashmiris, rather it would only intensify their anger and fortify their determination to see India end its occupation of Kashmir.

“The bodies of the terrorists are so close to the LoC that army might not be able to recover them”, they said. “As a responsible nuclear weapon state, Pakistan will continue to cooperate with all worldwide efforts that seek to promote fair and equitable solutions to disarmament and non-proliferation challenges”, he said.

Sharif also talked about Afghanistan, which earlier alleged that “merciless” terror attacks against its civilians are being planned and organised in Pakistan which trains, equips and finances terror groups like Taliban and Haqqani network.

PM will address the UNGA in New York today and forcefully urge the global community to take notice of Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir
