The NHL was ready, the media was ready, the fans were ready for a memorable Winter Classic.

Now he has given Bruins fans bad memories of sitting in the stadium and watching MA beat them in a historic game.
The goal was a result of hard work, as Desharnais found a rebound after the initial Alexei Emelin snap shot.
The Montreal Canadiens weren’t bothered by the Boston Bruins’ attempts to involve them in rough play during the 2016 Winter Classic. Montreal would instead cash in later on in the period, and it was Brenden Gallagher who knocked the puck in which was delivered to him by Max Pacioretty.
The Bruins tried to intimidate the Canadiens at several points in the game, but Pacioretty shrugged that off as “typical”.
That preserved Montreal’s 3-0 lead for the moment, though the home supporters did get to let out one hearty “Yeah!” when Boston briefly made it a game at 3-1 early in the third. Condon was trying to pitch a shutout in a stadium where the Patriots, Condon’s favorite football team, have never been blanked in 128 games. This goes to show that even professional athletes love to take some time away from the sport that they love in order to spend some quality time with loved ones, and they are just average people during the holiday season.
“We have nights where things just don’t go your way, and we just couldn’t seem to find the rhythm”, said Claude Julien after the game.
They went minutes upon minutes without registering a shot on goal in the first period, heading into the locker room down 1-0 and outshot 14-3.
“We all know what he can bring to the table and he did tonight”, teammate David Desharnais said of Gallagher.
Boston also must overcome two key voids on New Year’s Day in Brad Marchand (3-game suspension) and David Krejci (separated shoulder).
Since the 2008-09 season, the National Hockey League has been participating in a highly anticipated event: the Winter Classic.
The conditions for the Winter Classic at Gillette Stadium yesterday were just about ideal.
Any contest that features kids-some of them likely fresh off waving their fist at the Habs bus-staging numerous road hockey games throughout parking lots tinged with grillin’ smoke has our unconditional seal of approval.
Belichick had skated before Thursday and Julien, through the Bruins’ Twitter page, reported, “From the second he put his skates on until the finish he improved quite a bit”. The game will likely be decided by the play of Montreal backup goaltender Mike Condon (native of Needham, Massachusetts).
The game ended with another small scrum which makes sense because the Bruins had to of been frustrated with their play.

“We looked flat out there and they kind of caught us off guard”. So we have to move with what we have, and when you have a lineup you just have to tell yourself you need to be better, and we have to be better as a group.
