Confederate License Plates Could Be Recalled in Maryland
One of the crusaders, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe, made a decision to get rid of license plates containing the Confederate flag altogether and informed those with such license plates that they had until October to hand the license plates over to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

“I look forward to the day when these plates are no longer on the road”, Frosh said in a statement.
U.S. District Judge Marvin J. Garbis issued an order on Thursday granting the Attorney General’s request to lift the 1997 injunction that prevented the recall of Sons of Confederate Veterans specialty tags. It adds that the order will go into effect on November 17.
The bans follow a June US Supreme Court ruling that Confederate-flag plates are a form of government speech, and as a result can be rejected by states that choose to do so. “It has not place in any contemporary government use”.
Virginia is requiring owners of Confederate-flag plates to obtain new ones without that symbol, The Christian Science Monitor reported. However, only 163 people have complied.
Kevin Collier of Suffolk is a commander of the Stonewall Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Georgia, on the other hand, has recently begun selling license plates that bear the Confederate flag logo again.
The recall comes after the June massacre of nine black churchgoers in South Carolina which prosecutors say was carried out by a white man who posed with the Confederate flag in online photos.
After the shooting, photographs emerged of Roof showing him pictured with the Confederate flag and a gun.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) signed a bill in July to remove the Confederate flag from the statehouse grounds.
