The status of the new bowl was in doubt and it would not have been played this year without the naming rights sponsorship, a source said.
The game will be Mountain West versus Conference United States of America with the Sun Belt filling in if one of the two conferences doesn’t have enough bowl-eligible members.
The NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl has partnered with Campus Insiders and will be the first digitally-focused bowl game broadcast. With two more bowl games on the horizon for next season, we are slowly churning towards having every team participating in a few form of postseason activity. A linear broadcast network partner will be announced at a later date. Overall, Conference US leads the Mountain West in the series 8-7 and has won four of the last five meetings.
The NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl was sanctioned in March as the 41st NCAA college football bowl game and third bowl game staged in Arizona.
Tucson hasn’t hosted a bowl game since 1999, when the Insight.com Bowl (now the Cactus Bowl) departed for Phoenix.
The confirmation now puts the bowl schedule at 41 games, meaning 82 of the 128 FBS teams will be bowling this post-season.

The game will have an estimated $25 million impact on the Tucson area, officials said.
