Confirmed: Adele’s “25” Will Not Be Available For Streaming

Turns out the rumors were right as it has been confirmed that Adele’s latest album, which has been released today, will not be making its way onto any of the music streaming platforms available today.

Adele also revealed that her voice changed after having an operation on her throat, and said that pregnancy also affected her vocals.

According to CBS News, the move comes at a time when CD sales have declined 80% in the past decade, and digital streaming accounts for 32% of annual revenue for record labels. And the album will easily become the top-selling release of 2015 (so far that title goes to “1989”, which has sold 1.7 million units this year, and overall has moved 5.4 million albums).

The first of the singles on 25 to be released was Hello, which was the UK’s number one for three weeks.

As a personal NSYNC fan, I’m going to argue that “This I Promise You” packs a similar emotional punch, but am willing to admit that Adele should have everything she wants.

One fan said she “loved every song on the album”, while another called the album “a masterpiece”. And for as long as Adele tops the charts and continues to set records, the industry can again hide its head in the sand and pretend that everything is ok. Coming off of the 11 million selling 21, the response to 25’s first single “Hello” was overwhelmingly positive. Her reason to pull her album from Apple Music was that the company didn’t intend to pay artists during the free-trial period, something which angered many.

Adele will perform as a special musical guest on the November 21 episode of “Saturday Night Live”.

Tyler Goldman, chief executive, North America, of music streaming company Deezer told Reuters that the service would not offer “25” at launch.

Brick-and-mortar retailers are also counting on as a major sales attraction during the holiday season.

Music industry watchers are predicting that “25” could even break the sales record for the most album sales in a week, a title that is still held by NSYNC’s “No Strings Attached”. But, as we’ve said – we’d much rather wait and have a ideal album, which we have been given.
