Confirmed: Christian Benteke speaks out after joining Crystal Palace from Liverpool

After Liverpool and Crystal Palace agreed a £32 million deal for Christian Benteke on Thursday, the former Aston Villa striker completed his medical today.

Benteke, who has signed a four-year contract at Selhurst Park, is a proven Premier League scorer and, despite his unsuitability to Liverpool’s high-pressing style last season, he scored 10 goals in all competitions in his lone campaign at Anfield.

Awash with money from the sales of Yannick Bolasie, Dwight Gayle and Mile Jedinak, Alan Pardew splashed the cash on the 25-year-old Belgian, paying £27m up front, with a possible £5m in add-ons.

Pardew told a news conference prior to Saturday’s visit to Tottenham Hotspur that “everything” has been agreed with the Anfield club for the transfer of the Belgium worldwide.

“We have to build a squad where everybody has a perspective to play”, Klopp said.

Pardew, whose team lost their league opener against West Bromwich Albion 1-0, said Benteke could have made the difference against Tottenham if he had been eligible to play.

As the season progressed, Benteke found himself used less and less, even despite a good start under Rodgers that saw him score on his competitive Anfield debut. “It just didn’t work out for him at Liverpool but we want to get him back to doing what he does best”. “I was really happy to hear about his project and that is why I am excited to come here”, added Benteke.

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has withdrawn his request for a transfer and committed his future to Everton, manager Ronald Koeman said on Saturday.

“That is going to contribute to goals, and of course he’s a great crosser of the ball and therefore that bodes well if we bring in new players”. This news story is related to Latest/143946-Crystal-Palace-pay-club-record-fee-Benteke/ – breaking news, latest news, pakistan ne.

“We had to make a substitution at a corner, and sod’s law, it’s the one that goes in”, Pardew told BBC Sport.
