Records continued to fall as the deadline for European football transfers drew closer on Wednesday and new managers at some of the biggest clubs refined their squads with Chelsea set to re-sign Brazilian defender David Luiz.
In undoubtedly one of the more surprising moves of transfer deadline day, David Luiz is back in the Premier League with Chelsea, and people are still trying to figure out if the deal makes any sense.
The 29-year-old’s return to Chelsea have given manager Antonio Conte options and the Italian tactician will now consider how he will fit Luiz into his team. I can not wait to wear the shirt and play at Stamford Bridge again.
Chelsea have signed left-back Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina, the Serie A club have announced.
Ahead of the double signing of Alonso and Luiz, Chelsea had faced a lot of frustration in their chase for a new defender and the Premier League giants were believed to have failed with multiple bids for top target Kalidou Koulibaly.
Having won the FA Cup, Champions League and Europa League in his first spell at Stamford Bridge, Luiz will be hungry for more success.
Luiz said: “I’m delighted to return to Chelsea”.
“They (PSG) nearly got their money back, two years after he left, for a player who’s two years older”.
His latest return to the Bridge will see him ply his craft for the next three years under the guardianship of Antonio Conte- who for the longest time has been a huge admirer of the Brazilian.
Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado, 28, has rejoined Juventus on a three-year loan deal.

“It’s a step up in my career, and I think this is the ideal place for me to continue developing”, Alonso said. It’s time for me to win some titles.
