Mohamed Abu Hashash, 17, was shot dead by Israeli soldiers’ gunfire in the clashes that broke out between the soldiers and dozens of Palestinian stone throwers at al-Fawar refugee camp close to the city. It says the 25 others were struck by rubber bullets.
An Israeli army statement said troops entered Fawwar to search for suspects and weapons and were attacked by local youths who threw concrete blocks, rocks and home-made explosives at them.
The Israeli security forces also seized a shotgun-type weapon, ammunition and military equipment during a raid in the village of Jab’a.
Israel’s Shin Bet security service announced Tuesday it has arrested a network of Palestinians allegedly recruited via Facebook by Lebanon’s militant Hezbollah movement to attack Israelis.
Meanwhile, the occupation forces demolished eight Palestinian homes in the town of Saeer north east Hebron leaving 55 Palestinians homeless.
Since mid-September, Palestinians have killed 34 Israelis and two visiting Americans in stabbing and shooting attacks, as well as attack in which cars were used to ram into Israeli troops and civilians.
Abu Hashhash is the first Palestinian fatality this month in a confrontation with Israeli forces.
Overall at least 207 Palestinians have been killed in the clashes with the IDF, 140 of whom according to Tel Aviv were assailants.
